UW's Hawes goes to Kings, EWU's Stuckey to Detroit

SEATTLE - University of Washington freshman center Spencer Hawes and Eastern Washington sophomore guard Rodney Stuckey landed within the top 15 selections of the NBA draft.
Hawes was chosen 10th overall by the Sacramento Kings, while Stuckey went at number 15 to the Detroit Pistons Thursday night.
Hawes averaged 14.9 points while shooting 53 percent from the floor last season. He averaged only 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game with the Huskies. He starred at Seattle Prep in high school.
At Eastern Washington, Stuckey was the nation's leading freshman scorer at 24 points per game in 2005-06. Last season, he led the Big Sky Conference in scoring at 24.6 points per game, while averaging 5.52 assists and 2.45 steals. Stuckey is from Kentwood High School in Kent.
University of Oregon guard Aaron Brooks, from Seattle's Franklin High School, also went in the first round, to the Houston Rockets at number 26.
