The Storm fell back to its laggard ways offensively and saw its five-game winning streak end in a 77-59 loss to the New York Liberty Saturday.

The Storm (6-8) shot just 32 percent from the field, including 18 percent from beyond the arc, and never recovered from a bad second quarter en route to its first defeat in the past six games.Seattle jumped out to an 8-2 lead after Sue Bird followed a Camille Little fadeaway jumper with a pair of threes.  The Liberty responded with an 11-4 run to end the quarter to take the lead for good in front of nearly 7,000 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The Storm came unglued over the next 10 minutes, getting outscored 18-11 as guard Cappie Pondexter powered New York with 9 points in the first half.  Trailing 31-23 at intermission, the Storm and Liberty traded baskets in a back-and-forth third quarter, but Seattle couldn't mount a run to cut into its double-digit deficit.

The Liberty snapped its two-game skid when it capped the afternoon by outscoring Seattle 21-11 in the fourth quarter. New York combo guard Essence Carson led all scorers with 22 points.

Bird attempted nine threes, but knocked down just 3-of-11 shots from the field, finishing with 10 points.  Tina Thompson pitched in with 10.

Signed from her Russian Premier League Team by the Storm on Friday, Svetlana Abrosimova played just five minutes and went scoreless in her 2012 WNBA debut.

The Storm play on back-to-back days for the first time this season when it travels to Connecticut Sunday.  The Storm is 2-7 away from KeyArena and 1-1 on its four-game road swing.
