Not even two full weeks into training camp, Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid is already trying to play the team's projected starters together as much as possible.

Why the urgency?

Well, Seattle kicks off its CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal against Mexico's Santos Laguna in five weeks. For the Sounders, a March 7 date at CenturyLink Field — the first of a home-and-home series — will be their first game of 2012. Santos Laguna, on the other hand, got a head start to its season in early January and leads the Mexican Primera Division with a 3-0-1 record.
