Sounders FC fans surprised by 2011 ticket increases

TUKWILA - Renewal invoices for 2011 Sounders FC season-ticket packages have been met with mixed emotions.

Some fans were angered by the three-percent, price-per-game increase. Others were confused about the billing breakdown. And an expensive premium for a big international friendly had many scratching their heads.

"I do think there was some confusion about that," Sounders FC general manager Adrian Hanauer said Tuesday. "I'm sure we're partly to blame."

Miscommunication was the main issue.

Some fans weren't expecting a price hike, especially after ownership promised a one-game rebate next season after an embarrassing 4-0 home loss to Los Angeles in May.

The team had long planned a three-percent bump.
