The Chicago Fire will be without head coach Frank Klopas and defender Jalil Anibaba next for last Saturday's fight with the Seattle Sounders. The Fire made the announcement today. Anibaba got a red card for the fracas, in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Klopas got dismissed for the same incident. That's essentially like getting a red card. In other words, coaches get dismissed while players receive red cards.
But it's not all bad for Klopas. He can't be on the sidelines, but he can talks to the team before the game, during halftime, after the game, and still communicate with the coach during the contest. At least in this case, the MLS refs dismissing a coach doesn't really appear to have any teeth. The only bonus for refs is they don't have to deal with Klopas directly in the next game.
Here's an article on how it all went down. Also, you can hear Sounders coach Sigi Schmid's take on the fight. His interview from today is just above this story.
