SEATTLE (AP) — Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey were both in similar situations in Europe.
With the World Cup nearing, neither was assured enough playing time with his club to be best prepared for his role with the U.S. national team.
They each made the choice to return to Major League Soccer and face off on Saturday when Bradley makes his Toronto FC debut against Dempsey's Seattle Sounders.
Bradley is part of a massive makeover in Toronto that includes Jermain Defoe from Tottenham and Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar. But Bradley is the centerpiece, returning from an uncertain situation with Roma in Italy's Serie A to a setting in Toronto where he'll get the needed action to be ready for the World Cup.
