BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) — Alex scored the tiebreaking goal in the 86th minute, Sean Johnson made four saves, and the Chicago Fire beat the New England Revolution 3-2 on Saturday night.

Three minutes after entering the game, Alex corralled a clearing pass and knocked a left-footed low shot off Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth from 24 yards out for his first goal of the season.

Juan Luis Anangono and Mike Magee also scored for Chicago (11-11-6), which pulled into a tie with Philadelphia for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 39 points — two points ahead of seventh-place New England.

Kelyn Rowe and Sare Sene twice gave the Revolution (10-11-7) leads, but the Fire tied the score both times — the last on Magee's goal in the 55th.
