KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City has acquired Colombian midfielder Jimmy Medranda on loan from Deportivo Pereira and U.S. defender Brendan Ruiz from Brazilian side Figuerense.
The 19-year-old Medranda joined the youth program at Deportivo Pereira when he was 12. Over the past two seasons, the midfielder scored two goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for the senior team.
Ruiz, a 20-year-old defender from California, spent the last two years with the U-20 squad of Figuerense. He earlier played for De Anza Force of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
Terms of the deals announced Friday were not disclosed.
