Which jersey would you rather wear?
Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are leading the NFL in a new category: merchandise sales.
The Seattle Times reports that Wilson’s jersey is the top selling jersey for the period between April 1, 2013 and Feb. 28, 2014. Marshawn Lynch is No. 5 and Richard Sherman is No. 6. Sherman is the only defensive player in the top 10 in jersey sales.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady are the others in the top 5.
The Seahawks lead the league in overall merchandise sales for the same time period, followed by the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
Leo Kane, the NFL’s senior vice president of consumer products, says Super Bowl-winning teams usually get a bump, but hinted that the bump the Seahawks received might be the best ever. He added that it helps that the team debuted new uniforms two years ago.
Another jersey that could be a hot commodity is Russell Wilson’s Texas Rangers jersey. Wilson worked out with the Rangers at spring training on Monday. But, there have been no official numbers released on those sales.
