Bounty-gate takes a turn towards the Seahawks. A Washington D.C. reporter writes about the January 2006 playoff game between the Redskins and Seahawks. An anonymous Redskins player tells the reporter then Washington defensive coordinator Gregg Williams wanted them "to get Shaun Alexander". According to the article, that player said LaVarr Arrington knocked Alexander out of the game on a relatively common hit. The tackle wasn't over the top. We pulled the clip for the news tonight on KING 5, and I agree, it looked like a regular play. Alexander was just unfortunate.
ESPN's Mike Sando pulled a quote from that game. Here's a snippet of what Alexander said after the game, ""It was one of those plays where you're not sure whether it was a shoulder or a knee. I just got hit in the right spot." Alexander stayed on the ground for a while. FOX had to take a commercial break. When they came back, the NFL's MVP for 2005 was on the sidelines gettting checked out.
