Butler, Portis part of Seahawks cut to 53

College record: 83-19, 2 national championships; NFL record: 49-52 -- This is an unusual addition to the list, simply because he was an NFL head coach with the Jets and Patriots before his successful years at USC. He came back to the NFL two years ago, making history in 2010 when the Seahawks became the first division winner with a losing record to go to the playoffs and win a game. Expectations are high in 2012 with the addition of free agent QB Matt Flynn.

The Seahawks make their cut to 53.  One of the bigger surprises is quarterback Josh Portis. The Hawks cuts mean they'll only have 2 quarterbacks on the roster.  Obviously, that could change. They could pick someone up between now and the start of the season.  Couple more surprises are receivers Deon Butler and Ricardo Lockette being let go.  Lockette tweeted earlier that he was gone, unless they bring him back for the practice squad.
