The NFL Pro Bowl, which looked more like intramural flag football than the pro game this year, may be suspended in 2013 and could be finished for good, according to an ESPN report.
The next game is scheduled for Feb. 3, but a location has not been listed. Last year’s game, held at Aloha Stadium, drew boos for the apparent lack of intensity of the players on the field.
Sources tell ESPN that league commissioner Roger Goodell is strongly considering suspending next year’s game. Another league source hinted that the exhibition game could be done for good.
The game has been criticized over the years because the rules are adjusted to make it safer for the players. Players elected as starters to the Pro Bowl often bow out, leading to the rosters being filled with alternates.
