College career 26-63; NFL career 117-102 -- It’s hard to imagine why the Minnesota Vikings would hire a man who had a disastrous college coaching record – just a 0.412 winning percentage in eight seasons with Northwestern and Stanford. But he was part of the Bill Walsh coaching tree, which added to his appeal. Green led the Minnesota Vikings to a 101-70 overall record -- including a 15-1 season in 1998 -- and two NFC Championship games. He also had three lackluster years with the Arizona Cardinals, best described by his post-game rant, “The Bears are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook!”
