Portland native and former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Fred Quillan died on Monday at the age of 60.
The team made the announcement Thursday.
Quillan was a center on the 49ers' offensive line that was a part of two Super Bowl champion teams in 1981 and 1984. He got to snap the ball to Joe Montana, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, during most of his professional career. Quillan played in 154 games from 1978-87 and made consecutive Pro Bowls in 1984 and 1985.
Before being drafted by the 49ers, Quillan played at the University of Oregon and played at Central Catholic High School.
The team did not say how Quillan died.
