Ohio State and Alabama continue to lead the pack in the USA TODAY Sports 1-128 re-rank of the Football Bowl Subdivision, followed closely by Michigan, Clemson, Washington and Texas A&M.
Two years out of the national championship game, Oregon is ranked a humbling 89th, not far from the Beavers at 96th.
It’s a very clear top six in this week’s rankings. And Ohio State will meet Michigan and Alabama will play Texas A&M before the end of the regular season, guaranteeing that this top group will be whittled down by early December.
There are five other unbeaten teams: No. 9 Boise State, No. 11 Western Michigan, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 14 Baylor and No. 19 West Virginia.
There is also a change at the bottom of the list. Miami (Ohio) falls to No. 128 after its loss to Akron, while Kent State leaps from the cellar to No. 123 after defeating Buffalo.
New to the top 25: Arizona State, Utah, Virginia Tech and South Florida.
Out of the top 25: Florida, North Carolina, Arkansas and Stanford.
