FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Washington senior Nick Taylor has won the Ben Hogan Award given annually to the nation's top collegiate golfer.

The native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, received the award Monday night at the Colonial Country Club.

He is the first from the university to win the prestigious honor.  The Hogan Award is college golf's equilvalent of the Heisman Trophy.

He was the co-Pac-10 golfer of the year for the second consecutive time for the Huskies, after being the low amateur and tying for 36th place at the 2009 U.S. Open.

Taylor was the runner-up at the U.S. Public Links championship. He finished in the top 10 in nine of his 12 starts this year.

He will lead the Huskies into the NCAA championships next week. Washington won the NCAA west regional in Bremerton, Wash., last weekend by 29 shots.
