The Cougars appear to have the scent of their new head basketball coach.  Washington State's ASWSU president Taylor Hennessey tweets today that the Cougs have offered the job to someone. He says the offer was made public at this morning's Board of Regents meeting.

Wazzu has reportedly interviewed Boise State coach Leon Rice this week.  He's a Cougar alum and former Gonzaga assistant. Rice has led BSU to 20 win seasons three out of the last four seasons.  He's also suppose to be a good recruiter, which WSU athletics director Bill Moos has stated he wants from the next head coach.  Rice is scheduled to make $480,000 next season.

No word on whether Rice is the guy with the offer from the Cougars, but Moos has stated that he wants to get something done before the NCAA Championship Game.  Everyone says the Cougs A.D. is tight-lipped with these type of decisions and don't expect an announcement until Monday, at the earliest.

UPDATE:  ESPN's Andy Katz says you can take Rice off the list.  He's staying at Boise State.
