SEATTLE – The Apple Cup was a tough fight for the players and, apparently, the fans as well.
Ice thrown onto the field from the stands made the game particularly hostile and dangerous Saturday in Pullman.
The UW Daily reports 34 people were treated at an ambulance and eight were taken to the hospital. It's unclear how many of the 34 were injured from flying ice or from fights. Some were band members from both schools, who had taken the field to perform.
Noel Zanchelli, video director at Sportspress Northwest, provided KING 5 with the embedded video of iceballs being thrown from the stands.
