BOISE -- The Broncos (3-2) take on the Aggies of Utah State (3-3) on Saturday at 6 p.m. MDT in Logan, Utah.
The Broncos are looking to put together another win streak in the sixth game of the 2013 season against a team that suffered a devastating injury in its last game.
Team leader and quarterback Chuckie Keeton suffered a torn MCL and ACL in the Aggies’ loss to BYU on Friday, and is out for the season.
Now Utah State is forced to start an untested quarterback when the Broncos go to Logan this weekend.
Despite the loss of their quarterback, BSU head coach Chris Petersen isn’t taking the Aggies lightly.
“Whether their first string or second string quarterback is in there, they're still going to come up with new things we haven't seen,” Petersen said during Monday’s news conference. “So, all of this tape that we have after five games, which is way more than we can run against our defense in practice, they're also going to have a couple of new wrinkles. So, it's impossible to get your guys completely dialed in. That's where it comes back to us being very assignment sound. If we can do that, we have a fighting chance.”
This matchup also has serious Mountain West Conference Mountain Division implications.
Utah State currently sits atop the division at 2-0, but Boise State could over take them with a win on Saturday.
