College record: 63-43, 5-0 bowl record; NFL record: 24-35 -- Butch Davis had modest success at the University of Miami – at least by “The U” standards. He didn’t win more than nine games until his final season, leading the Hurricanes to an 11-1 record and a Sugar Bowl win. He jumped to the Cleveland Browns, but was fired in the middle of his fourth season. He returned to coaching at North Carolina for four seasons.
