HEMET, Calif. - According to the Desert Sun, early Sunday morning, Dimitri Garcia, 22, and Emil Smith, 18, were fatally injured in a car accident.  According to Scout.com, this is the same Emil Smith that verbally committed to play football for the Broncos last month.  He was a talented linebacker out of Rancho Verde High School in California.

Police Sgt. James Waters said their car collided with a minivan at about 12:20 a.m.

A witness told police Garcia was speeding in a yellow Dodge Neon, when he lost control of the car, veered off the roadway, spun across the median and into the path of the minivan. The car then caught on fire.

The Palm Springs-based paper goes on to say that witnesses pulled Smith out from the passenger side of the Dodge. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Garcia was trapped inside the Dodge and was pronounced dead at the scene.
