SEATTLE - First baseman Russell Branyan has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Seattle Mariners after missing the last month with a herniated disk.
The team made the move right before the start of Tuesday night's game against Oakland.
Branyan has not played since Aug. 29, after a stellar first five months of the season when Branyan set a career high with 31 homers getting the opportunity to play every day.
Before Branyan was activated, Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu said the team hoped to maybe get Branyan an at-bat or two in the final couple of games this weekend. Wakamatsu said the pain is gone from Branyan's hip, but he has yet to field any groundballs.
