RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- Complex medical terms are now just part of Steve Zakuani's vocabulary.
It's the result of a broken right leg the young Seattle star suffered in an April game against Colorado and the nine months of recovery that reached another milestone on Friday when Zakuani was a full participant in the first day of Sounders training camp.
Getting that much work on the first day was a surprise for Zakuani, who only found out when he got word from coach Sigi Schmid. It'll be a staggered process as Zakuani tries to come back from an injury that was complicated by compartment syndrome suffered following the initial surgery to stabilize his broken tibia and fibula and that cost Zakuani sensation in his leg and foot.
There is no timeline for when Zakuani might return to game action.
