Three Seattle Sounders FC players, including American Eddie Johnson, have been called up to their national teams for the upcoming 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.
Johnson will join the U.S. National Team for qualifiers against Antigua and Barbuda on October 12 in St. John’s and against Guatemala on October 16 in Kansas City. Johnson has 12 goals in 41 caps for the U.S. since 2004, but hasn’t made an appearance for the national team in two years.
Johnson has 14 goals this season for Seattle.
The U.S. is tied with Guatemala and Jamaica with seven points through four matches in CONCACAF’s Group A. Both the U.S. and Guatemala are even with six goals scored and four goals against.
Adam Johansson will join Sweden for a pair of qualifiers against Faroe Islands on October 12 and against Germany on October 16.
Mario Martinez will join Honduras for qualifiers against Panama October 12 and Canada October 16.
The Sounders FC’s next match is October 17 vs. Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field.
