LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Jesus Montero hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and the Tacoma Rainiers held on to beat the Las Vegas 51s 5-4 Sunday.

The game started shaky for pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, who was making his first rehab start with the Rainiers. Iwakuma gave up three runs, two of them earned, on three hits in the first inning, but settled down after that and didn’t give up another run in the following three innings.

Left fielder Xavier Avery drove in the first two Rainiers runs in the second inning. The two-out single scored Chavez and Gabriel Noriega.

Montero’s fourth home run in the last five games gave the Rainiers the lead for good.

Right-hander Mark Rogers (1-0) got his first win of the season in relief.

Las Vegas took the series 3-1. The Rainiers head to Sacramento for four games starting Monday.
