Skyline QB Max Browne named Army player of the year

Skyline High School senior quarterback Max Browne was named the U.S. Army Player of the Year at a banquet on Friday in San Antonio.

Browne was presented a trophy modeled Ken “Sugar Land Express” Hall, who was high school football’s all-time leading rusher.

Browne led the Spartans to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state championship. He completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 4,526 yards and 49 touchdowns will throwing just five interceptions this season.

He previously was awarded the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year award.

Browne played in the Army All-American Bowl at 10 a.m. Saturday on KING 5.

He has committed to play college football at USC.
