SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks announced they've signed tight end Chris Baker to a multi-year deal and wide receiver Ruvell Martin to a one-year deal.
Baker, 30, comes from the New England Patriots, where he ended the 2009 season with 14 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the third round (88th overall) 2002 NFL draft. He spent seven seasons with New York from 2002 to 2008, recording 145 receptions for 1,505 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Martin, 27, played eight games in 2009 for the St. Louis Rams after signing with them on September 16. Previously, he played three seasons for the Green Bay Packers (2006-2009). He was originally signed on as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2005. He spend two training camps with the Chargers (2004,2005), a season in NFL Europe (2005) and time on the Packers' practice squad (2005) before making the Packers' 53-man roster in 2006. Martin has 58 career receptions for 848 yards and six touchdowns.
The Seahawks also announced they've released running back Tyler Roehl.
