BOSTON - The Seattle Reign FC keeps showing it’s the best team in the National Women’s Soccer League, even when it’s missing key members.
The Reign beat the Boston Breakers 2-0 Thursday to remain the only undefeated team in the league, despite the fact that five players were away either playing for their respective national teams or attending to other obligations.
Forward Beverly Goebel scored in the second minute and midfielder Keelin Winters added the final goal in the 25th minute.
Seattle (10-0-2, 32 points) is eight points ahead of second-place FC Kansas City. The team with the top record will have home-pitch advantage throughout the playoffs.
The Reign stays on the road to face the Western New York Flash Sunday.
