The St. Louis Rams, who will host the Seattle Seahawks Monday night, called retired NFL legend Brett Favre to see if he wanted to suit up one more time, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.
Rams starting quarterback Sam Bradford was lost for the season after tearing his ACL last Sunday.
Although Favre was known in the past for being wishy-washy on whether he would retire, Schefter reports there was no wavering this time for the 44-year-old. He declined the Rams’ offer.
"It's flattering, but you know there's no way I'm going to that," Favre reportedly told ESPN 570 in Washington, D.C. Thursday. Favre indicated he is enjoying spending more time with his family and that his body would not be able to stand up to the pounding.
The Rams will likely start Kellen Clemens Monday. They signed Brady Quinn and Austin Davis to serve as backups. Quinn played in the preseason for the Seahawks, but lost the backup job to Tavaris Jackson and was released.
ESPN's broadcast of Monday's game will be shown live on KONG 6/16 starting at 5:30 p.m. It will be preceeded by a pregame show at 5 p.m. Immediately following the game, watch a live edition of The 5th Quarter.
