SEATTLE - It looks like the University of Washington is going to keep its talented quarterback for one more year.
According to the UW's Web site, Jake Locker has decided to put off the NFL for a year and return to the Huskies for his senior year.
Locker released a statement through the university on Monday.
"After a great deal of careful thought and deliberation, I have decided to return to Washington and play my senior year," Locker said in the statement. "I am very excited about this team's opportunities and potential for the upcoming season and I am looking forward to being a part of it."
Locker, a native of Ferndale, Wash., is coming off a junior season during which he threw for 2,800 yards in his first year under the watch of coach Steve Sarkisian. Draft pundits have said Locker would be a high first-round pick if he left after his junior season.
Locker apparently wants one more shot at reaching a bowl game after the Huskies went 5-7 this year.
