Bellevue High School star Budda Baker announced his verbal commitment to the University of Oregon on Friday with a tweet.
Baker said his heart led him to choose the Ducks. He helped lead the Bellevue Wolverines to their sixth straight state title.
On Thursday the Associated Press named Baker the Washington state player of the year and the 3A player of the year.
Baker played both sides of the ball for the Wolverines. As a defensive back he had 59 tackles, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. As a running back, he averaged 17.1 yards per carry, with 35 runs for 600 yards. He also scored 12 offensive touchdowns.
Because many games were not close for Bellevue, Baker often only played in the first half.
