PULLMAN, Wash. - Ashley Sweat scored 30 points to help No. 22 Kansas State match the best start in school history with a 74-58 win over Washington State yesterday.
Marlies Gipson added 16 points and a season-best 13 rebounds for the Wildcats, whose 11-0 record equals the mark set by the 1968-69 team.
Jazmine Perkins led Washington State (7-4) with 18 points. Heather Molzen had her second double-double of the season with 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Rosie Tarnowski and April Cook each had 10 points for the Cougars.
Kansas State led by as many as 12 in the first half at 29-17, but Washington State wouldn't back down as the Cougars closed the half on a 13-4 run.
Leading only 53-51, Kansas State used an 8-0 run to put the game away.
Washington State kicks off its Pac-10 season next Saturday against Washington in Seattle.
