SEATTLE (AP) — Endy Chavez homered for the first time in more than a year and Chris Young combined with five Seattle relievers in the Mariners' 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians last night. Chavez singled and scored in the first inning, then ended the night for Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer with a solo home run into the right-field seats with one out in the seventh. It was Chavez's first homer since May 30, 2013.
NEW YORK (AP) — Seattle Mariners minor league outfielders Jamal Austin and Jabari Blash have been suspended 50 games each for drug violations. The commissioner's office announced the penalties yesterday, saying the suspensions followed second positive tests for a "drug of abuse." Austin is on the roster of the Double-A Jackson Generals of the Southern League, and Blash is on the roster of the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League.

NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Soccer fined Portland Timbers midfielder Maximiliano Urruti an undisclosed amount yesterday for simulation late in a 2-2 home tie against FC Dallas on June 11. Dallas assistant coach Josema Bazan was suspended for two games and was fined an undisclosed amount for his actions involving a fan in the game at Portland.
