SEATTLE (AP) — Corey Hart hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, sending the Seattle Mariners to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in their home opener last night. Seattle became the final major league team to open at home and continued its early success against the Angels.

SEATTLE (AP) — Los Angeles Angels reliever Brian Moran will undergo Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow and is expected to miss the rest of the season. The Angels announced Moran's diagnosis yesterday. The club was hopeful he could be a key lefty in coming out of the bullpen after the Angels selected Moran in December's winter meeting draft from Toronto.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) —Michael Morse hit a two-run single to back Tim Hudson as each made memorable home debuts with their new team, and Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer for the San Francisco Giants in a 7-3 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday. Hudson (2-0) shut down the D-backs for the second time in seven days with an eight-inning gem.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Carl Crawford hit an RBI double in the 10th inning, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers last night. Joba Chamberlain (0-1) struck out the side in the ninth for Detroit, but walked pinch-hitter Chone Figgins to open the 10th and was replaced by Phil Coke. J.P. Howell (1-0) pitched a perfect 10th inning.
