Robin Lopez chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Wesley Matthews added 16 points for the Blazers, who bounced back with their second win over Utah this season after losing to Dallas on Saturday to snap a four-game winning streak.
SEATTLE (AP) — Chris Petersen says it was simply a gut feeling that it was time to take on a new challenge by leaving Boise State for Washington. Petersen was introduced as the Huskies new coach today at a news conference overlooking his new football home in Husky Stadium. Petersen says he's constantly been asked 'why?' he finally left Boise State after eight years as the Broncos head coach. The 49-year-old says it was a combination of timing and fit.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The celebration of an NFC West title was put on hold for the Seattle Seahawks. And unless they get some help, the delay could be for at least another two weeks. Seattle's 19-17 loss to San Francisco on Sunday was the Seahawks first setback in more than two months. It snapped a seven-game win streak and left Seattle still needing two more wins — or a win and a 49ers loss — to clinch the division title.
NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Palin will be host of a weekly outdoors-oriented program starting next year on The Sportsman Channel. The network said yesterday that Palin's program, "Amazing America," will debut in April and will celebrate the "red, wild and blue" lifestyle. Palin will be a teammate of rocker Ted Nugent, who has a hunting-oriented show on Sportsman.
