SEATTLE (AP) — Los Angeles Angels earned a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night with Mike Trout hitting his 22nd home run and Jason Vargas allowing one run in 6 1-3 innings. The Angels jumped on top early against Mariners starter Erasmo Ramirez (4-1). After a walk to Erick Aybar, Trout homered to give the Angels a 2-0 lead.

SEATTLE (AP) — Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia disputed reports of a rift with general manager Jerry Dipoto over differences in opinion regarding moves by the organization. A report from FOXSports.com Friday stated that the Angels are expected to replace either Scioscia or Dipoto because of continuing "philosophical differences" between the two men. Scioscia claimed yesterday such a rift doesn't exist.

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Villopoto finished off his Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship season with another victory, sweeping the 450 Class motos Saturday in the Lake Elsinore National. Villopoto, the Monster Energy Kawasaki star from Poulsbo, Wash., had eight victories in 12 rounds this year and won 18 of 24 motos en route to his second season title in three years. Ryan Dungey, the 2012 champion, was second in both motos.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (AP) — John Riegger shot an 8-under 64 on Saturday to open a three-stroke lead after the second round of the Champions Tour's Boeing Classic. The 50-year-old Riegger, making his fifth career start on the 50-and-over tour, had an eagle for the second straight day and added seven birdies and a bogey to finish at 11 under at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge.
