SEATTLE (AP) — Felix Hernandez threw eight shutout innings and Justin Smoak drove in four runs off Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver, including a three-run homer, in the Seattle Mariners' 6-0 win over the Angels on Saturday night. Smoak had an RBI single in the fourth inning that gave Seattle the lead, then provided the big blow in the sixth to cap a two-out rally.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Andrew Jean-Baptiste scored in stoppage time to give the Portland Timbers a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night. Jean-Baptiste's header got past Los Angeles goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini as the game wound to a close after Ryan Johnson had evened the score at 1-all in the 27th minute.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Florida man has arrived to a hero's welcome, biking into Spokane more than five weeks and 3,200 miles after he set off from Miami on a quest to help a 1-year-old boy born without hands or forearms. Double arm amputee, tri-athlete and motivational speaker Hector Picard reached Spokane yesterday afternoon, completing the journey he began June 8 — to bike across the U.S. and raise money for Jameson Davis' prosthetic arms. Picard lost his arms in a 1992 electrical accident.
