SEATTLE (AP) — Nick Franklin had tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning for his third hit of the game, lifting the Seattle Mariners to a 7-5 win over the Oakland Athletics last night. Brendan Ryan singled off Ryan Cook to lead off the eighth. Ryan moved up on a wild pitch and advanced to third on Endy Chavez's bunt single. Chavez took second on indifference before Franklin delivered a hit to right field to put the Mariners ahead by two.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Roneeka Hodges scored 19 points, Glory Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and the Shock beat the Seattle Storm 92-70 last night for their most lopsided win in four seasons in Tulsa. Courtney Paris and Nicole Powell scored 11 points each and Jennifer Lacy and Angel Goodrich added 10 apiece for the Shock. Tulsa won its second straight overall and beat the Storm for the second straight time. Tianna Hawkins, the sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft, had 17 points to lead Seattle.
SANDY, Utah (AP) — Kyle Beckerman scored a goal right before halftime and Robbie Findley added another immediately after it to lift Real Salt Lake to a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night. The win vaulted RSL into first place into the Western Conference. Seattle lost for just the second time in its past nine MLS matches. Seattle finished the match with a total of two shots. RSL tallied 17, putting six on the net. Salt Lake has scored two or more goals in five consecutive matches.
