PITTSBURGH (AP) — Felix Hernandez scattered six hits and Jesus Montero broke a tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning off A.J. Burnett to help the Seattle Mariners beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 yesterday. Hernandez struck out five and walked one to improve to 4-0 in his last five starts while shaving his ERA to 1.53. Tom Wilhelmsen worked the ninth for his ninth save.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Kenny Cooper scored on a penalty kick in the 77th minute to lift FC Dallas into a 1-1 tie with the Portland Timbers last night. The draw extended the unbeaten streaks for two hottest clubs in MLS to eight games apiece. Diego Chara scored and Ricketts made four saves for the Timbers. Dallas owns the league's best record and is 6-0-2 in its last eight.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Djimi Traore scored late in stoppage time and the Seattle Sounders stunned Sporting Kansas City 1-0 last night. The teams had played a defensive-minded game most of the night, but Seattle finally got an opportunity when Zach Scott threw the ball in with about four minutes gone in stoppage time. Seattle improved to 6-0-1 in its last seven meetings.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Former Oregon Ducks cornerback Cliff Harris has entered a not guilty plea in connection with alleged domestic harassment. Harris' attorney asked that he be released from jail after the hearing yesterday, but that request was denied by Washington County Circuit Court Judge Gayle Nachtigal. It's unclear when he'll be released. He was arrested on Friday.

SEATTLE (AP) — Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill won't face a felony charge in his January arrest for investigation of domestic violence. The King County Prosecutor's Office said yesterday the case for a felony charge was legally insufficient to pursue. Prosecutor's office spokesman Dan Donohoe says the case is being referred to the city attorney in Issaquah.
