SPOKANE, Wash.-- Thousands of runners packed Downtown Spokane on Sunday morning for the 37th annual Bloomsday. Here is the list of the winners:
Wheelchair winner: Scott Parson
Female winner: Buzunesh Deba
Male winner: Belete Assefa
It will be the warmest race day in nine years according to the StormTracker 2 Forecast. Temperatures could reach into the high 70s by noon.
Law enforcement will be watching the event by air and on the streets. Officers will patrol the crowds while helicopters fly above the course. There are some security changes this year for runners. Those changes include:
*Runners cannot wear backpacks (including "string-style" backpacks)
*No camel packs
*Small fanny packs are allowed (subject to inspection)
*Participants pushing strollers can bring a bag to carry what they need
*Spectators cannot bring backpacks or coolers to the course
*No bags may be left unattended at any time.
