SEATTLE (AP) — Hank Conger and Mark Trumbo each hit two-run homers to help give the Los Angeles Angels a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners last night. The Angels would not let Mariners' starter Aaron Harang settle in. They scored in each of the first three innings for a 5-0 lead, chasing Harang before the fourth.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks surprised observers in the NFL draft, picking up Texas A&M running back Christine Michael in the second round. The Seahawks, who were thought to be focused on improving the line of scrimmage and linebacker early in the draft, went back to the expected in the third round, selecting Penn State defensive tackle Jordan Hill.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Players from Oregon and Oregon State have been snapped up in the NFL draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers chose former Oregon State wide receiver Markus Wheaton in the third round yesterday. The Buffalo Bills selected Oregon linebacker Kristian 'Kiko' Alonso with the 46th pick.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Desmond Trufant, a four-year starter at Washington, will be wearing No. 21 on the field for the Atlanta Falcons. That's the same number worn by another cornerback, Deion Sanders, when the future Hall of Famer played his first five seasons in Atlanta. Trufant, a first-round draft pick, says it will be an honor to wear Sanders' number.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coaches have said they'll make their quarterback pick between Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz when one of them makes himself the clear-cut choice. That hasn't happened yet. A Friday scrimmage at Reser Stadium was the last of 15 spring practices for Oregon State. Mannion and Vaz each played one series in the two-hour scrimmage.
