HOUSTON (AP) — James Harden had 35 points, Chandler Parsons scored 20 and the Houston Rockets beat the Portland Trail Blazers 118-103 last night. The Blazers had won the previous two meetings this season in overtime, rallying from double-digit deficits in both. Not this time. Houston preserved a comfortable lead for most of the second half, and Harden finished off Portland with a fadeaway jumper from the wing.
SEATTLE (AP) — Alyssia Brewer had 20 points and 12 rebounds last night and No. 17 UCLA defeated Washington 65-61 for its fifth win in a row. Talia Walton led the Huskies with 18 points. Jazmine Davis scored 17, Kristi Kingma had 11 points and Aminah Williams had 13 rebounds for Washington, which saw a six-game winning streak end. The Huskies' last loss was at UCLA on Jan. 13.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Chucky Jeffery had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead 21st-ranked Colorado to a 61-47 victory over Oregon State last night. The Beavers' Jamie Weisner scored 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting for Oregon State, but none of her teammates had more than seven points. The Beavers have lost five in a row.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Michelle Plouffe scored 15 points to lead Utah to a 67-47 win over Oregon last night. Oregon scored the game's first five points and later led 8-2, but Utah took the lead for good at 14-11 on Rodrigues' 3-pointer. The Utes led by as many as 27 points. Oregon has lost four in a row since its only Pac-12 win at Washington State.
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Dawnyelle Awa scored 11 points and Lia Galdeira scored 10 and Washington State held off Southern California 57-54 last night. Galdeira, who also had six rebounds, made two field goals within a minute, the second one putting the Cougars ahead 49-47. They scored the next four points, three on a long-range shot by Awa, and Galdeira made a pair of free throws in the final seconds.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Timbers say that Bright Dike (DEE-kay) will have surgery Monday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The 26-year-old striker sustained the injury in Tuesday's preseason match against Seattle. Dike, who represents Nigeria internationally, saw considerable action in the second half of last season, scoring five goals in 12 games.
