(AP) — LaMarcus Aldridge hit a turnaround jumper at the final buzzer and the Portland Trail Blazers came back from a 21-point third-quarter deficit to beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-104 night. Aldridge finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds for Portland, which trailed 101-94 with 2:18 left. J.J. Hickson had a season-high 26 points and 15 rebounds. Nowitzki finished with 26 points for Dallas, which had won six of its last eight games.
CLEVELAND (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says the Cleveland Cavaliers are exploring the possibility of signing center Greg Oden, the former No. 1 overall pick whose NBA career has been sabotaged by injuries. The Cavs are doing their due diligence while looking at Oden. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team's interest is contingent upon the center's health. The 7-footer was the first player taken in the 2007 draft by Portland.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks starting right tackle Breno Giacomini has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and is expected to take four to six weeks to recover. The team announced Giacomini underwent the surgery yesterday at the Seattle Surgery Center. The surgery was performed by Dr. Edward Khalfayan. The team did not specify what was repaired.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada is replacing Oregon with Brigham Young University on its home football schedule next season. Athletic Director Cary Groth announced the Wolf Pack will host BYU at Mackay Stadium on Nov. 30. She said the school had been trying for some time to "help balance" a 2013 schedule that also includes a season opener at UCLA on Aug. 31 and a road game at Florida State on Sept. 21. To make the late change, Nevada also agreed to play at Oregon in 2019 and also play road games at BYU in 2014 and 2019.
