SEATTLE (AP) — Investor Chris Hansen has contacted the Maloof family about buying the Sacramento Kings, setting up the possibility of the NBA's return to Seattle. Hansen's interest was confirmed Wednesday by people with knowledge of the situation. They spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because no deal has been reached. One person said the Kings could sell for more than $500 million. The Kings' future in Sacramento has been uncertain because the Maloofs and the city haven't been able to come up with a long-term arena solution. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn's reaction was, "If it's true, ain't it cool?"

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — Basketball Australia says Seattle Storm forward Lauren Jackson is expected to make a full recovery from a persistent right hamstring injury after undergoing surgery this week. Jackson was advised to undergo surgery after a series of tests to ascertain the full extent of the injury, which occurred with the Australian team in the lead up to the Olympics.
CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Eastern Washington receiver Brandon Kaufman will skip his senior season and make himself eligible for the NFL draft. The team announced yesterday that the two-time All-American has signed with an agent. Kaufman finished his 42-game college career with 221 catches for 3,731 yards and 33 touchdowns. Last season, he caught 93 passes and set an FCS record for single season receiving yards with 1,850 yards. EWU quarterback Kyle Padron is also leaving a year early.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran kicker Ryan Longwell and defensive end Patrick Chukwurah after placing Steven Hauschka and Chris Clemons on injured reserve. The moves became official yesterday morning. Neither Longwell nor Chukwurah have played in the NFL this season. Longwell last kicked for Minnesota during the 2011 season.
