AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Brandon Knight scored 16 of his 26 points in the first half, outplaying Damian Lillard in a matchup of young guards and leading the Detroit Pistons to a 108-101 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Lillard started the day as the NBA's top rookie scorer, averaging 19.6 points per game. He missed his first 12 shots from the field against the Pistons. LaMarcus Aldridge was back in the lineup for Portland after missing a game with back spasms. He had 32 points.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says he expects starting cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner to be able to play on Sunday at Chicago, despite the possibility they could be facing four-game suspensions for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Carroll said yesterday that, "As of right now I'm planning on those guys playing." ESPN.com first reported Sunday that Browner and Sherman are facing suspensions and are in the process of appealing.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Stanford coach David Shaw has won the Pac-12 Conference's Coach of the Year award for the second straight season. Southern California wide receiver Marqise Lee also was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year and Arizona State defensive tackle Will Sutton the Defensive Player of the Year. Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota took home Offensive Freshman of the Year honors and Trojans freshman defensive end Leonard Williams won on the defensive side.
