LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky, the third-ranked team in the AP men's basketball poll, got 23 points from Kyle Wiltjer and 22 from Alex Poythress in a 101-49 win over Lafayette. The win gives the Wildcats a record of 2-1.
CHICAGO (AP) — Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Ditka reportedly suffered a minor stroke Friday. A producer for ESPN posted on Twitter that the 73-year old is OK but that he will not be able to work on ESPN telecasts this weekend.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The New York Knicks have lost their first game of the season. New York was beaten by the Grizzlies in Memphis Friday night, 105-95. Zach Randolph had 20 points and 15 rebounds, Marc Gasol (gah-SOHL') added 24 points in the win.
NEW YORK (AP) — The referee who was heard swearing during an NFL game has been fined by the league. Tony Corrente, an 18 season veteran, had his microphone open and his obscenities were heard throughout the stadium in Indianapolis. The fine will cost him approximately $9,000.
