Andrea Nakano joined King 5 as the weekend sports anchor and reporter in February of 2010.
She came to Seattle from XETV in San Diego, California where she was a sports anchor and reporter. During her time there, she won multiple Emmys for sports reporting.
Before her time at XETV, she covered news for the CBS affiliate in San Diego. Andrea also worked at KION-TV in Monterey, California reporting, anchoring, and doing fill-in sports. She also briefly worked at KRCR-TV in Redding, California. Her on-air career though began in Eureka, California at KIEM-TV.
Andrea Nakano has a wealth of world experience. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Andrea has also lived in Japan, Belgium, and England. She eventually made her way to California where she graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in broadcast and electronic communication arts.
The experience of such diverse locations and cultures while growing up undoubtedly influenced Andrea's career plans. She loved to learn different things, meet new people everyday and experience other cultures. Andrea is fluent in Japanese.
Andrea has been very active with the communities she has lived in. She served as the vice president for the San Diego chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association and was also a board member for the Japanese American Citizens League-San Diego.
