KING-TV will launch a new daytime talk show called "New Day Northwest" starting March 29, and award-winning journalist Margaret Larson will return to KING to host the one-hour show, which is scheduled to air Monday through Friday at 11 a.m.

Larson was an anchor/reporter for KING-TV until the end of 2002. She says she is delighted to return to KING and is especially excited to be working with a live audience.

"It'll be a great opportunity to feature many interests and subjects, current events, heroes, people, kids, music. We'll have serious things and fun things. It's supposed to be everybody's show," she said.

She says the show will have regular contributors and occasional co-hosts. The show will evolve as it goes.

The program format creates a conversation between the host, audience, and guests on community, current events and topics relevant to the life in the Northwest.

"It should be a community touchstone that's upbeat, fun, interesting, energetic and warm," Larson said.

Station Manager Pat Costello is excited to see Larson at KING once again.

"It’s wonderful to have Margaret returning to the KING 5 Home Team. Her world experience, intelligence, and sense of humor are perfect for this show," Costello said.

Larson worked as a broadcast journalist for more than 25 years, including with NBC News as a foreign correspondent, news anchor for the Today show, and Dateline NBC reporter.

After working for KING TV, she joined relief agency Mercy Corps for two years and then started her own communications business.

She lives in Bellevue with her husband Tim and son Kyle.
