WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash.—Those strong afternoon winds did something pretty unusual Friday.
The wind blew over a road sign along Highway 195. The sign crashed into a driver’s windshield. The driver, Rachel Trost, actually works at KREM 2 News.
Trost said she was driving from Pullman to get to the KREM 2 studios in Spokane Friday afternoon when the rain started.
Trost said she was not prepared for what happened next.
“It was like all of a sudden I heard this ‘slam’ and I was like ‘That’s a sign,” said Trost.
She was able to pull over safely and called Washington State Patrol.
“He came and assessed the damage and he said, ‘You’re really lucky you’re not injured,’” said Trost.
Trost was able to make it into work. She got an estimate from the body shop who towed her. They said it will cost $4,500 and it will be covered by her insurance.
