A dog found a leg bone on the Nisqually Indian Reservation Saturday afternoon and a volunteer search turned up more bones.
The Thurston County Sheriff's Office said an elderly man's dog brought home what appeared to be a leg bone. The man said he didn't know what to do with it so he buried it in his back yard. When his adult daughter learned about it, she convinced him to call police.
A search team found a rib cage and a pelvis, portions of a skull and some teeth.
The coroner confirmed that the bones are human.
Five dog teams participated in the search.
An investigation is continuing.
